SING ME TO SLEEP, I'LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS
garrett was reckless and he was well aware of this. it seemed wherever he went, he always left a trail of heartaches behind, no matter how hard he tried to avoid it. back in high school, he was a player, a major one. and seemed to have perfected the art of heartbreaking. back a few years ago, he would have been completely happy with this reputation, and would probably have just smiled and nodded if you mentioned it to him, but lately garrett was wishing to change. back then, he practically had a different girl every night, and well had his fair share of pregnancy scares. but he had reached that point in which he was ready to leave that life behind. the way holly made him feel was enough to tell him to turn his back on his old ways. garrett swallowed hard, he knew this wouldn't be easy, but he also knew it would be worth every effort in the end. he could understand if holly didn't completely trust him and had her doubts with him. but the truth is garrett wasn't sure if he could trust himself in the first place. he was one of those guys that would frequent clubs and bars, and bring home miscellaneous girls, even the dancers as well. but all of that can stop, he was willing to change.
garrett wasn't sure exactly at which point in time he finally decided that holly was the right one for him. somewhere down the line, he had just grown so accustomed to being with her, that he wouldn't be able to imagine life with anyone else. he couldn't imagine walking down the aisle with anyone else but holly. perhaps this was the reason garrett found himself in front of a jewelry store a few days ago. he had spent the entire night in his hotel room alone, and his hand cramped from writing, his eyes dazed from pulling an all nighter. but that morning, after garrett had put his pen down, he just grabbed his jacket and fled out the door. he didn't have any intent on where he was going, or what his purpose was. or at least he wouldn't have been able to tell you what it was. by that point he had known what was in his heart, and he knew what he ultimately wanted, holly harper. by that point, garrett knew that he would someday put a ring on her finger. perhaps that was the reason he walked out of the jewelry store that day with a ring he couldn't actually afford. but nonetheless he didn't care. it was the perfect one, the perfect one for her, and perfection has no face value. so maybe he was jumping to conclusions that day, in that moment he hadn't even told holly that he loved her more than friends. he hadn't told her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. but that was what today was for, what right now was for. he understood that most couples spend years dating before getting engaged, but garrett didn't feel the two needed that. they had already spent the first half of their lives together, and that ring would ensure the second half of their lives forever together. he had bought the ring that day without any future plans of how he would approach holly. in fact, he planned on just keeping the ring to himself for a while, never in a million years would he have imagined to be this close to using it just a few days after purchasing it, he had bet on at it being at least six months before he could summon up the courage to even tell her that he loved her. but right now, just seeing holly in person gave him this incredible strength, and he knew it would be now or never. for once in his life, seizing the day had a whole new meaning.
garrett smiled when he heard holly breathe those words to him. he had been right all along, they were meant to be... they were written in the stars. she loved him, he loved her, but would that simple fact be enough to make this fate come true? he didn't want their relationship to end up being just hot sex in his bedroom every night. as much as sex was important to garrett and equally holly, he didn't want everything to resort to just that. there was way more to their compatibility than just rolling around in the bed. he didn't want to waste their first time with just some mindless quicky in which they were both hammered. no, he wanted it to be perfect, because that is what they deserved. for the first time, garrett actually wanted to wait before throwing a girl against his wall, and holly was the every bit of reason behind it. as she leaned in closer to him, he could feel the imprint of the ring he bought a few days ago dig into his thigh. as if reminding him of the perfect opportunity that lies ahead. but he temporarily dismissed the thought. his nerves wouldn't be able to handle anymore pressure than what they were going through right now. he swallowed again, garrett couldn't believe how amazing his life was turning out right now. here he was sitting in this room, a nonchalant time spent, with the girl of his dreams intertwined in his arms, and an impending ring in his pocket.
garrett's breath caught in his throat when he heard holly vocalize her worries, her doubts, her disbeliefs. he knew she would question it, all of this, it was just too good to be true. but she had said that she believed him, or that she wanted to believe in him more than anything. he knew he wasn't the best person i n the world, he was generally greedy and self-absorbed, and rarely ever gave a shit about anything. but this, everything, holly, all of it was making such an impact on him, he could feel himself change in just the last week. he had grown, and had begun to become a better person, and it had all started with the morning he had bought the ring. garrett squeezed holly's hand and just shook his head, he didn't know what else to respond at the moment, and was just simply speechless. he couldn't think of the right words to convince her that his heart was true. "i'm sorry." he couldn't help but feel like it was his fault, he was such a fuck up, a plain failure. someone that could never be capable of anything sentimental, centennial, or even rational. "i know i haven't always been the best person, and you have every right to be doubtful. my love for you is great, and us, just laying here is the living proof of how amazing we can be, how we could be. and you're right, you won't know any of that, you have to have faith in me, in us. right now, all we have is a leap of faith. i care about you holly, more than anything in the world, and you've known me long enough to know that its completely true, i would never in my right mind want to hurt you. you're everything to me, everything. and i would be willing to sacrifice anything and everything i have for a life with you. you've always been holly, my holly, and you always will be, regardless. i guess all i can really ask is just for you to trust me, let go of your doubts, because i'm here for you, i always have and always will be, yours to keep." garrett spoke, the words just flowed out of him, coming straight from his heart. he couldn't do anymore to convince holly that he was telling the truth. she had to just believe him, he swallowed again, there was just so much emotion built up inside of him.
garrett smiled as holly leaned in and pressed her lips into his again. this kiss, her kiss, was the perfect remedy. and with this righteous kiss, he knew that all was possible, he knew they were meant to be. his heart raced faster as he pushed forward and leaned into their kiss. she was intoxicating him. butterflies flew around inside of him, as his eyes remained shut while their lips were in contact. "i love kissing you." garrett let his free hand trace down holly's spine. nothing too sexual, but rather just gentle and soothing. garrett thought about how he would love this so much, to be able to wake up to holly's kisses each and every morning. he smiled into her when he heard her slight giggles. he loved how they could bring out the best in each other. together they were a miracle. simple said, he loved, loving holly. when she pulled back from their embrace and said he was her world as well, garrett couldn't help but let the mile wide grin spread across his face. he sat up on the bed and adjusted their seating so that holly was facing him while still sitting on his lap. their hands still intertwined, and garrett's fingers still running through her hair. "there are so many things unsaid between us. you don't even begin to know how much i've been thinking about you, dreaming about you. holly, this, all of this, is everything i asked for. everything and a whole lot more. his voice was gentle, he was a little frustrated with himself, garrett just couldn't find the way to let holly know just how much she meant to him. "i want to give you the world.
garrett turned and looked to the window, and glanced at the scenery outside. they were in england. they both had ended up in england, for what purpose? he for sure didn't know. what had started out as just a simple afternoon endeavor had quickly changed into twilight. the sun was setting, a beautiful sunset, but for garrett it was a sunrise, a beautiful beginning. the late afternoon light casted a warm glow into the room, hitting holly in just the right way to make her natural beauty shine. in just a blink of an eye they had spent almost the entire day in each other's arms. everything was timeless when they were together. it seemed a lifetime was still not long enough for them to be together. garrett knew the way relationships worked, at least for people his age. people meet, they flirt, chemistry, they date, then they break up. but he refused to accept that. the two people that were meant to be forever, were garr&holly, they were the ultimate excpetion, and he was ready to prove to the world what they could accomplish. garrett let go of holly's hand and instead wrapped both of his arms around her waist, pulling her tightly close to him. "you're truly amazing, holly. i can't imagine living without you." garrett had brushed her hair back and whispered the words into her ear. his arms bringing her closer to him until there was no possible room between them. it was like they were melting into one, one perfect soul. the ring was still in the back of his mind, and right now he had no clue how he was going to use it. garrett swallowed hard, in their closeness, he could feel holly's heartbeating, his own heart was racing at top speeds. she gave him a rush unlike any other. he was worried that he was thinking too fast, moving things too fast. but he wasn't about to sit back and watch her slip through his fingers again. he remembered a few of holly's past relationships, he remembered the one in which she really fell for the guy, and the entire time garrett had been there for her, he had felt her pain, but he was also insanely bothered by their relationship. at the time he didn't know why, but now looking back he knew, he knew it was because he had loved holly right from the beginning. right from the time their moms brought them on a play date when they were barely old enough to even walk. she was in his heart long before he could even speak. because holly and garrett was the epic story, they were the epic love story that everyone had sought after.
