skip town , slow down
push it to the east coast

Wednesday was the slowest day of the week. Or, at least, this particular Wednesday was. Spencer had already attended her classes, completed her grocery shopping for the week, given her cute little Yorkie a bath, cleaned her side of her dorm room, and it was still only four in the afternoon. It seemed as if the day would never pass. Like she was stuck in a cycle of Wednesday hell that could never be escaped. She had no celebrity sightings to write about, no homework to complete .. Nothing. Spencer was out of productive things to do with her day. It didn't help that the weather was dreary, wet, and cold, despite the fact that summer was just around the corner. Spencer had been living in Seattle since she was ten and still couldn't get used to the weather. She had always found it odd that just a day's drive away was the sunniest place to be, and yet here she was, stuck in the miserable rain.
But Spencer could never leave Seattle. It was her home, even if it wasn't bright and sunny.
These seemingly random thoughts were all that Spencer could think about as she drove her not-so-happy arse towards the shopping district. After all, the only thing that could possibly cure her seemingly never-ending boredom was spending the day with her credit cards and coming home with bags of shoes. But, like most things in Spencer's life, this was not going to be an easy task. The traffic was so horrible that she was almost tempted to pull a u-turn and go back to the dorms. Sure, time was passing as she slowly inched the car towards her destination, but not in the way she wanted it to. And by the time she finally did reach her favorite place in the world, Spencer was so fed up with waiting that she rushed right in to the first store she saw.
Little did she realize, not all stores in the shopping district were actually stores. Somehow, though she was unsure how, Spencer ended up in a sports bar, crowded with a bunch of middle-aged men getting hammered before five, and very few people her own age. As if it wasn't enough that she looked barely legal, and therefore stood out, the all blue, casual outfit she had chosen to wear was the brightest thing in the place. Even the brightness on the gigantic television was dimmed down to fit the mood of the place. She was utterly unmistakable in here.
"Um .. Hi!" she found the courage to say. But it was obvious that Spencer didn't belong here. She wanted to run out and hide in the department store she had meant to enter into last time. But before she had the chance, the bell above the door behind her rang loud and clear as someone else entered the establishment. She was trapped. But at least in that moment, Spencer realized she didn't have to disappear. She was twenty-one and fabulous. Who said she couldn't have a drink just like everyone else there, hm?
So that's exactly what Miss Spencer Talon did. She plopped her ass down on a bar stool, gave the bartender a flirty smile, and ordered herself a strawberry margarita. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the only thing this particular sports bar had to drink was beer, beer, and more beer. So much for variety. But none the less, Spencer took her beer, had a sip, struggled to keep from puking up from the nasty taste, and took another. She wasn't about to be run out of a sports bar just because she was a girl who wasn't into sports. Maybe her little mistake was the best thing that happened to her. Or maybe it was just a mistake she would seriously regret later.
